Fishing on the Nemunas: what to know before you come
The Nemunas is Lithuania's largest river, and its lower reaches in the Šilutė district are known for calm water and good fishing. Nemunas holiday site stands in a pine wood right by the river, so the water is only a few steps away.
What you need for recreational fishing
In Lithuania, recreational fishing needs a valid fishing licence, which you can buy online before your trip. Before you cast, check the current rules — closed seasons, minimum fish sizes and catch limits. They change, so it is worth looking them up from official sources.
When to fish
Many anglers prefer early morning and evening, when the river settles. Spring and autumn are busy seasons on the lower Nemunas, and in summer a morning by the river is a great way to start the day.
Where to stay
